The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights formally launched its new Strategic Plan on Thursday January 28th, 2010. Alongside other prominent guests present, were the Dutch and Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya present, H.E. Laetitia van den Assum and H. E. Elisabeth Jacobsen, respectively.
Both Ambassadors stressed the importance the KNCHR have had within the area of Human Rights in Kenya, as well as for other governance issues where human rights are an integral part. Both also underlined that even if Kenya had made good progress on human rights since the KNHCR started its work in 2003, more needed to be done.
The Norwegian Ambassador underlined that although Norway was very pleased to be able to support KNHCR, and encouraged the government also to take its funding responsibility in full. This was echoed by the Dutch Ambassador.
