Residence and work in Norway

17/09/2009 // The grounds that allow one to apply for a residence or work permit are regulated by the Immigration Act from 1988 and the Immigration Regulations from 1990.

Examples of persons who may work or reside in Norway include:

  • Students who have been admitted to an approved educational institution 
  • Persons who are considered specialists in a particular field 
  • Au pairs 
  • Seasonal workers 
  • Close family members (generally spouses and children) 
  • Persons who need protection (refugees/asylum seekers) 
  • Trainees
